Who doesn't like a little window shopping? I know I do and one of my favourite sources (aside from thrift stores and flea markets) is Etsy. Etsy is an online marketplace, specializing in handmade and vintage items. It's also a great source for art.
Now, depending on the seller, some items can be expensive, (There are many bargains, but you need to shop carefully.) so I thought I'd invite you to window shop with me. I decided to "decorate" a room in two very different styles, using Etsy items without regard for the price. There are certainly more affordable ways to achieve these looks, but this was just for fun.
First, I tried for a glamorous, Hollywood Regency look. I have eclectic taste so I never "match" all the items to an era or style, but merely to the tone of the room. How luxurious would this room look in real life?
Here are the sources for the glamorous room:
Vintage Afghan Rug: $987
Faux Bamboo Mirror: $245
1970's Lucite Lamps: $375
Hollywood Regency White Credenza: $2155
Faux Malachite Trinket Box: $34
Teal Blue Slipper Chairs: $475
This next room is more Retro with some distinctive Mid Century Modern pieces. This style is so hip right now!
Here are the sources for the retro room:Mid Century Sideboard: $2750
Moroccan Rug: $675.25
Retro Chair: $300
Vintage Sunburst Mirror: $340
Carved Wood Vessel: $87
Collection of Small Vintage West German Pottery: $54.61
I know I have my favourite, although I like elements in both. Which room is your favourite?
