Ledge-N... Wait for it... Dary!

This is going to be a short post, but it represents some BIG progress on our bathroom reno.  Remember when we moved in and we had to balance our Craigslist clawfoot precariously on a mystery ledge?

Well, we finally learned what was inside... and I'm going to preface this but telling you that it was a little anticlimactic.  Corey and I were both sort of hoping that the answer would be a little more:

Sorry for the bad pun.  I couldn't help myself.  :S

There was also this small part of me that had a bit of an irrational fear about the removal process and I made Corey promise to be careful.  I was concerned that he would unintentionally hit a water line and the house would flood or even a sewage line... yuck!  I even entertained one vision of a rogue gas line resulting in an explosion.  *shudder*

On the other hand, I was also a little curious and wondered if we would find something cool.  I know the ledge was probably just covering old pipes but it could also be a secret hiding place for something else...

Like treasure...

Or a passage... Which admittedly would have been unlikely, since the washroom is on the second floor.

Or perhaps we would find ourselves in some sort of culturally insensitive "Indian in the Cupboard" scenario...

And if you know who this is, you're probably a dork like me.  I was pretty sure we didn't have an angsty (uncomfortably lusty) teenage ghost living in the ledge, but you never know...

So, are you curious about what we found?  Treasure?  A secret passage?  A miniature civilization?  A ghost??  Drumroll please...

Yeah... It was pipes.

It looks like we have a little more work to do if we're going to fit the tub in that space.

On a bright note, I found this cool shower curtain which offers great storage pockets for people with clawfoot tubs.  I would probably have a pretty outer curtain but use this on the inside.

What do you think?
