A Trick For Waking Up


Remember when you were little and just jumped out of bed because you just couldn't wait to start your day?  As an adult it's so much easier to hit the snooze button half a dozen times.

I read recently that a good trick is to envision one thing about your day that you are truly excited for and to focus on it for a minute before you open your eyes.  It doesn't have to be a big event.  It could just be something simple like chatting with a friend at work or watching your favourite show in the evening.  I look forward to waking Rudy from her nap because she does these adorable stretches.  We call them wumps just like we call her a Wump.  We use it as a verb as in "Come see her.  She's wumping!"  It makes my day!

I found that visualizing something that made me really happy actually made me feel less tired and more excited to start the rest of my day.  Would you try this?  Tomorrow I'm going to think about my strong morning coffee and a dinner reception I'm attending in the evening.  We're taking a limo from my office so it feels a bit like prom.
